Change perspective, rethink and think new!
When differences meet, regardless of cultural background, we need to be curious about each other and "dare to challenge our prejudices.
The best way to avoid cultural clashes is to socialize with people from different cultural settings. When we do, we feel motivated to shift perspectives in order to understand our cultural differences and see beyond our preconceived notions. It is not always easy, but possible and necessary.
Changing perspectives and rethinking is definitely a challenge! It is easier to continue in established patterns where we feel safe. These feelings of safety and security unfortunately diminish our ability to come together across cultural boundaries. Instead, we get stuck in our preconceived notions, which negatively affect the cultural encounter.
Another prerequisite in the cultural meeting is permissive, nuanced and respectful conversations. Such conversations and attitudes greatly simplify the interaction.
Only when we converse openly with each other will it be possible to maximize the benefits of our differences. In the end, such an attitude will turn culture clashes into successful cultural encounters that are profitable for the company, the employees as well as in customer meetings.
